The Brief

Due to personal reasons, the General Manager of a leading precast manufacturer & sub-contractor had to return to the UK after living in the UAE for past 30 years, a new General Manager with extensive precast concrete experience was required to take over the operations.

The company is one of the oldest precast manufacturers & sub-contractor in the region, established for over 40 years with an excellent reputation and diverse in-house capabilities, a JV company part owned by a leading UK 1st tier international contractor. The requirement was to find a replacement for the current General Manager with a view of investing in the company from both shareholders, improving productivity, expanding an existing client base and increasing revenues profitably.

The Process

Due to the size of the regional precast concrete industry with five main companies dominating the market along with the incumbent knowing all the competition, BCI was tasked with carrying out an extensive international search to identify potential candidates with previous experiences in the Middle East.

A systematic approach was taken to identify all the leading precast manufacturers in the UK, Australia, Hong Kong and the MENA region producing an extensive market map. After a period of evaluation and cross referencing, 30 potential candidates were identified for the position and contacted, further evaluation and candidate interviews took place until a short-list of 6 candidates were presented to the client for interview, Interviews were coordinated and carried out in the UK and Dubai resulting in a short-list of two.

The Result

After three interviews and assessment, the preferred BCI candidate nominated for the position had a final meeting with the Chairman and his advisors and an attractive offer was made and accepted.

The offered candidate was obliged to work his 3 month notice period, during this time BCI Executive Search assisted in ensuring there would be a smooth transition period along with all the required documentation in place. To date, the new General Manager has effectively improved production and cut wastage, employed a new commercial team, increased turnover by 25% and expanded the client base along with launching a new website and marketing material.
