The Brief

Following the departure of the previous Group CEO and a period where the group was managed by the Board, a decision was taken to hire a new C-Suite to stem the Group's losses and restructure the company in order to build on the Group's order book.

Reporting to the Group CEO and the Board of Directors, it was paramount that the new Group CFO would have at least 25 years of experience with leading 1st tier international contractors involved with major projects, experience at both a corporate and major project level covering a number of geographies and business units, extensive experience of debt restructuring and company refinancing, implementation of procedures & policies across the Group as per listed company requirements along with previous ERP implementation experience.

The Process

Through our extensive network with the 1st tier international contractors covering the Middle East, UK, Australia and SE Asia, we were quickly able to identify who the potential candidates for the position could be from their previous and current experien

Due to the urgency of the Board and a limited time period where they would all be in-country to carry out the initial interviews, BCI Executive Search compiled a short-list of suitablly qualified candidates in under three weeks and presented to the Board as agreed. The candidates were flown in from Singapore, Hong Kong &  Qatar along with two in-country candidates. All candidates interviewed well, however, indecision within the Board requested a further short-list of three more candidates before a decision was taken.

The Result

Two candidates were selected from both short-lists and met with the Chairman, however, with the appointment of a new Group CEO, the preferred candidate initially nominated by BCI Executive Search from the first short-list was finally offered the position.

The appointed candidate who was residing in Hong Kong, worked through his 3 month notice period and successfully joined the Group in the UAE, during a relatively short period of time, he has helped stabilise the company including the refinancing of the Group. The share price has improved considerably and the Group is now back in profit allowing for the concentration on the operations and the implementation of a world class ERP system.
